2002 – Festival Extended to 10 Days.
The stars continued to shine in year two of the Buffalo Niagara Guitar Festival, as the event was extended from four days to 10.
Legendary guitarist Bo Diddley was joined by Living Colour (featuring Vernon Reid) and the North Mississippi Allstars at the Great Guitar Gig.
Alternative country star Junior Brown brought his unique "guit-steel" guitar and stylistic versatility to the University at Buffalo, in a concert that was filmed for broadcast on WNED-TV.
Kleinhans Music Hall hosted smooth jazz quartet Fourplay, featuring Larry Carlton and Nathan East.
The Los Angeles Guitar Quartet made two appearances at the Festival, including a Master Class at the Albright-Knox Art Gallery with a group of classical guitar students.
Bass virtuoso Stanley Clarke and jazz guitarist Stanley Jordan played a doublebill at Shea's Performing Arts Center.
The week-long Tralf series was highlighted by a sold-out show from Dickey Betts and Great Southern. Other performers to take to the Tralf stage included Coco Montoya, John Hammond, Dave Edmunds, David Wilcox and Big Sugar.
Chris McHardy of Toronto took home first prize in the North American Rock Guitar Competition before a sold-out crowd at the University at Buffalo's Center for the Arts.
